Saturday Rides

Last Saturday, December 26, 2009 I joined the riding group PMRG for an icy cold ride, from Fountain Hills, on a large loop which included Roosevelt Dam.

The ride started out on a scary note as one rider missed the turn into our meeting point, locked up his breaks trying to make the turn, went down and skidded to a stop. The emergency response people responded and took the rider to the hospital to be checked out. The rider and his bike looked better than expected, but there was probably more damage to both than met the eye.



The ride departure was delayed a bit, but eventually we arrived at our intended destination.........





..............Roosevelt Dam.



There's a nice walkway out to the Dam Viewing Site.


All bundled up to continue our ride.

Saturday January 2, 2010's ride took us on a much warmer ride to the intersection of Enterprise Rd. and Old US 80.....




....the site of an old steel bridge over the Gila River.







But the highlight of the ride was a stop at the Space Age Lodge and Restaurant in Gila Bend, AZ. I had the Chicken Burger which included a trip to the wonderful Salad Bar. = )
